History of St. Bernadette of Lourdes College
St. Bernadette of Lourdes College, a private educational institution, bears the name of Saint Bernadette of Lourdes, a revered figure known for her resilience in the face of adversity and her unwavering faith. Saint Bernadette is the patroness of illness, those ridiculed for their piety, poverty, shepherds, shepherdesses, and Lourdes, France. These values of compassion, faith, and service have been at the heart of the college’s mission since its inception.
Founding and Vision
The college was founded on February 12, 2003, a significant date that coincides with the Feast Day of Saint Bernadette of Lourdes. Its establishment was the result of the dedication and vision of a group of professional healthcare providers who aspired to create an institution that would not only offer academic excellence but also instill a strong sense of purpose and empathy in its students.
Flagship Program
From its inception, St. Bernadette of Lourdes College has been dedicated to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals. The flagship program of the college is Nursing, available in both undergraduate and graduate programs. This program reflects the college’s commitment to producing skilled and compassionate healthcare practitioners who can make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
Diverse Academic Offerings
In addition to Nursing, the college offers a range of other programs, including Psychology, Hospitality and Tourism Management courses, and Teacher Education programs. These diverse offerings enable students to pursue their passions and interests while receiving a well-rounded education.
Commitment to Excellence
Under new management, St. Bernadette of Lourdes College has embarked on a journey of transformation and innovation. In February 2023, college employees participated in a forward-thinking Strategic Planning initiative with the theme “Transform 2028: The Future of New Beginnings.” This endeavor reflects the college’s unwavering commitment to continually improving its services, refining its strategies, and enhancing its student-care relations.
The college firmly believes that to provide the best education and support to its students, it must continually strive for excellence. In keeping with this belief, St. Bernadette of Lourdes College follows the 3E Model, ensuring that students are not only Enrolment Ready and Exam Ready but also Employment Ready. This comprehensive approach to education equips graduates with the skills, knowledge, and professionalism required for success in their chosen fields.
A Vision of Inclusivity and Competence
The institution’s vision is to provide transformative, practical, and high-quality education that embraces inclusivity. St. Bernadette of Lourdes College is committed to producing competent and industry-ready professionals who can make a positive impact in their respective fields and in society at large. This vision guides the college’s every endeavor and underscores its dedication to fostering a community of learners who are well-prepared to meet the challenges of the future.
Embracing Diversity, Transforming Lives
At St. Bernadette of Lourdes College, the tagline “Embracing Diversity, Transforming Lives” encapsulates the institution’s fundamental philosophy and core mission. This tagline signifies a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment where individuals from all walks of life, backgrounds, and cultures are not just accepted but celebrated. The diversity within the college community is recognized as a source of strength, enriching the learning experience and creating a vibrant tapestry of perspectives. SBLC firmly believes that by embracing diversity, it opens the door to a broader understanding of the world and equips students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected global society. Moreover, “Transforming Lives” embodies the essence of the college’s mission, going beyond the mere imparting of knowledge. It signifies the profound impact that education can have on an individual’s life. The college is dedicated to empowering students to reach their full potential, providing them with not just academic skills but also instilling the values, character, and resilience needed to navigate real-world challenges. SBLC recognizes that education has the power to transform not only the lives of students but also the communities they serve. The aim is to graduate students who are not only academically proficient but also compassionate, socially responsible, and ready to make a positive difference in society. In sum, this tagline serves as a guiding principle that inspires both the college and its students to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to a better, more inclusive, and compassionate world.
St. Bernadette of Lourdes College is not just an institution of learning; it is a place where values, excellence, and compassion converge to create a brighter future for all who pass through its doors.
